The tallest waterfall in South Wales — a 27-metre plume dropping into a wooded gorge, with a path that leads right behind the curtain of water, which memorably doubled as the entrance to the Batcave in a Dark Knight film. It's National Trust, free, and often surprisingly quiet. The steps down and back are steep and slippery, and you'll get soaked behind the falls in spate. Combine it with the nearby Four Falls for a full waterfall day.
Getting there
Henrhyd Falls is in Coelbren, near Ystradgynlais, Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). It's roughly 45 min (15.8 miles) from Brecon , and within reach of Llandovery (48 min) and Llandeilo (49 min).
The nearest parking: National Trust car park at Henrhyd. Grid reference SN 875 097 — works on any OS map and doesn't need a phone signal.
