The graceful ruined arches of a Cistercian abbey founded in 1132, standing at the foot of the Greenfield Valley below Holywell. Free to wander and moody in low light, it's the anchor of the Greenfield Valley heritage park, with a farm museum and old mill ponds alongside. A pleasant valley path links it in about a mile to St Winefride's Well, one of the great medieval pilgrimage sites. Open access.

Basingwerk Abbey is in Greenfield, Holywell, North-East Wales. It's roughly 6 min (0.9 miles) from Holywell , and within reach of Prestatyn (28 min) and Denbigh (33 min).
The nearest parking: Greenfield Valley Heritage Park car park (free). Grid reference SJ 193 775 — works on any OS map and doesn't need a phone signal.
