Perfect Bronze Age ring at 440m

This is a quick reference, not a full walked guide. The facts below — location, parking, grid reference and access — are maintained from our dataset, but we haven't published our own first-hand write-up of Moel Tŷ Uchaf Stone Circle yet. Know it well? Help us get it right.

A beautifully complete Bronze Age ring of around 41 close-set stones, standing alone on a grassy shoulder of the Berwyn at about 440 metres above Llandrillo. Many rate it among the most atmospheric and least-visited stone circles in Wales, and its position — with huge views down the Dee valley — is half the reason. The walk up is by track and open hillside from Llandrillo village. Save it for a clear evening and you'll very likely have the circle, and the sunset, entirely to yourself.
