Quiet legend-haunted lake

This is a quick reference, not a full walked guide. The facts below — location, parking, grid reference and access — are maintained from our dataset, but we haven't published our own first-hand write-up of Llyn Dinas yet. Know it well? Help us get it right.

Smaller and far quieter than its neighbour Llyn Gwynant, this serene lake sits beneath the legend-haunted crag of Dinas Emrys — a lovely evening paddle for when Padarn is busy. Launch spots are limited and cross private and National Trust land, so tread carefully at the western end. Combine a paddle with the short walk up Dinas Emrys and its dragon legend. Free to paddle.

Getting there

Llyn Dinas is in Nant Gwynant, Eryri (Snowdonia). It's roughly 9 min (1.9 miles) from Beddgelert , and within reach of Llanberis (20 min) and Capel Curig (25 min).

The nearest parking: Lay-by on A498 near Bethania / NT Craflwyn. Grid reference SH 587 495 — works on any OS map and doesn't need a phone signal.

Good to know

Limited launch spots — respect NT/farm access at the western end; combine with the Dinas Emrys walk.
