A mile-long tidal island shaped like a sea serpent off the tip of Gower — you can walk out across the rocky causeway for only about two and a half hours either side of low water, past a booming blowhole to the wild Outer Head. The views and the sense of adventure are extraordinary. But check the tide times posted at the coastguard lookout first: people are cut off here every year, the young Dylan Thomas among them. Never start out in the last hour before the tide turns.

Worm's Head, Rhossili is in Gower, near Swansea, Gower. It's roughly 9 min (2 miles) from Rhossili , and within reach of Port Eynon (18 min) and Swansea & Mumbles (44 min).
The nearest parking: NT car park at Rhossili village. Grid reference SS 414 879 — works on any OS map and doesn't need a phone signal.
