A flooded former slate quarry near Abereiddi whose mineral-rich water glows an unreal blue-green, ringed by the crumbling ruins of the old workings — a world-famous coasteering and wild-swimming spot, and once a venue on the Red Bull cliff-diving series. The water is cold and deep, so go with a guide for the cliff jumps or swim sensibly from the shingle. The black-sand beach next door is good for fossils. Parking is paid.
